Larna Anderson Beebe’s Artistic Inspiration

Using paint or beads, sometimes I exaggerate forms and sometimes I simplify forms. This is my way of honoring both the complexity and essence of the point of origin but more importantly, enjoying the paint or beads for their own sake. While painting, the four elements of earth, water, fire and air are my points of departure. I find the transience and energy of the landscape constantly awe-inspiring. While creating beadwork, the pleasure of working out a pattern is a puzzle that often requires several drafts. As an African living in America, I am respectful of the symbolism of combinations of colors and shapes as understood by various tribes.

Ever since I can remember, art has been something I love to create. With a lifetime of creating art, all too often I have struggled with ‘artist's block’. This frustration along with experience in the corporate world, led me to write a book in 2007 called ‘Sizzovations(TM) – Sizzling Business Innovations’ (http://www.sizzovations.com/Larna_Author.php). This book sets out 100 breakthrough techniques for WOW results. The how-to information is practical for both teams and individuals, transferable to any industry, and applicable for improving operations, processes, marketing, products or services.

Your task as the viewer is to move backwards and forwards while observing the completed works and to allow the images to shift in and out of focus. While a piece may seem to be defined by its title, you will derive magic from relating your own experience to the expression before you. These artworks challenge you to use all your senses, and your depth of perception is dependent upon your degree of courage to be intuitive. My wish is for you to travel through and even beyond the forms and colors in a visual-mental-emotional dance.
